Pet Placement & Florida Sunday On Purpose Tour

Here’s the latest on Project Pet Placement. I completed the personal experience piece for Veterinary Economics and emailed it in. I heard back from one of the editors who had been in touch with a lady in Virginia that had taken a leave of absence from her job as a receptionist to work on finding homes for the displaced pets. One thing led to another and another and before I knew it I had a direct line to Dixon Correctional Institute and was speaking with Dr. Davis there.

I learned that after swelling to over 200 dogs, they now have only 43 and they know 13 of these have owners, so that leaves only about 30 dogs unclaimed at this time. Yea! That means most if not all the pets I ‘candy striped’ for are on the way to their original homes or new homes. My soul is much more peaceful today.

I also received a call from Molly of Blue Ridge Animal Fund who are raising money to help with the displaced pets and are sending people down to the area to help. I connected them with Animal Compassion Network in case they could create an alliance in the effort. So, the adventure continues to unfold.

I’m about to leave on a combination Florida Speaking Tour and some R&R time. And in case you’re in the Tallahassee or Jacksonville area, here’s the info where I’ll be conducting 3 Sunday On Purpose programs:
